For the first time local people will have the chance to see how North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus (CTP) is funded and have a direct say on the health and social care services that the Care Trust Plus buys on their behalf.
During March and April, representatives from the Care Trust Plus will be visiting community locations around North East Lincolnshire and want to invite local people to complete a short questionnaire about what they think of the services provided now and how they would like to see them change in the future. Christine Bromley, Senior Commissioning Manager (Patient & Public Involvement) at the CTP said:“We want to hear what matters to local people and our staff so that we can buy the services that get the best results for them whilst not spending more money than we have been given by taxpayers. As a thank you to people for taking the time to help, the details of everyone completing the survey will be entered into a draw and one lucky winner will receive £50 Freshney Place shopping voucher.”
As well as questionnaires there will also be copies of the newly launched “You and Your Local Health & Social Care Services” booklet for people to take away with them. The booklet explains how much money the Care Trust Plus receives and what this money is being spent on. It provides information on how much things cost, such as a visit to A&E for example, and how decisions on what can and cannot be funded are made.
The leaflets and questionnaires will also be available from GP surgeries, libraries, Local Authority access points or via our internet site – www.nelctp.nhs.uk
Christine continued:“Like any household or business the Care Trust Plus has an annual budget, an amount of money to spend on health and social care services for the residents of North East Lincolnshire. Like households or businesses the Care Trust Plus cannot overspend. This means decisions sometimes have to be made on what can and cannot be funded. “Once we’ve received the responses from the questionnaire, the next step is use the information we get from local people to develop the first Commissioning Prospectus. This will be a document detailing what services the Care Trust Plus will buy throughout the year and the document will be available in a variety of locations. The more information we get from local people the better our understanding will be of how to buy services for the next financial year.”
Members of staff from the Care Trust Plus will be manning stands in the following locations:
- Somerfield’s Store, Washdyke Lane, Immingham on Thursday 27th March 2008
- Asda Store, Holles Street, Grimsby on Thursday 10th April 2008
