CTP sees double at regional awards

Last night’s annual Yorkshire & Humber Health and Social Care Awards saw not one, but two Care Trust Plus teams walk away with accolades at a glamorous event at Sheffield City Hall attended by the Health Secretary Alan Johnson.

The Early Presentation of Cancer Team scooped the Improving Health and Reducing Inequalities Award for their work encouraging people to not only recognise the symptoms of cancer but to go for help. This was especially pleasing considering the project has only been running since early 2007.

The second trophy went to Tukes Café who won the Mental Health & Wellbeing Award for their continued work to provide employment and training opportunities for people suffering from mental health problems in North East Lincolnshire.

With only 12 awards for the Yorkshire and Humber region and stiff competition from a great many other initiatives it was a huge success for the CTP to take home two awards and Chief Executive, Jane Lewington was understandable thrilled.

“It is fantastic that the work of our staff is being recognised at this level. These awards are very prestigious and for two of our services to win is a massive achievement that everyone concerned should be very proud of.”

The Health & Social Care Awards are run by the Department of Health and highlight and acknowledge the hard work, commitment and innovative approaches employed by NHS staff. As winners in their categories both teams will now be entered into the national Health & Social Care Awards and invited to London for the awards night in July.
