Swing night raises more than £500 for The Royal British Legion

The North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus older people’s health and wellbeing collaborative supported The Royal British Legion (TRBL) to raise over £500 through a recent 40s and 50s swing night.

The event got into full swing with the help from The L.S. 16 Piece Big Band who performed a selection of 40s and 50s music throughout the evening. People also got into the spirit of the occasion by dressing up in period style clothes.

Over 150 people attended the dance held on Saturday, September 4, at Westwood Ho barracks, Grimsby.

All the money raised from the event will be donated to TRBL. TRBL safeguards the welfare, interests and memory of those who are serving or who have served in the Armed Forces.

Martin Wakefield, project manger for the older people’s collaborative, said: “We all had a fantastic night and are thrilled we were able to raise such a lot of money for a worthy cause like the British Legion.

“The dance was a brilliant success and we hope to be able to continue to support the Legion in the future.”
