The North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus learning disabilities team is holding a 24-hour bounceathon.
The event, which will run from 9am on Friday October 8, through to 9am Saturday, October 9, will not only celebrate the launch of the new trampoline facility at the Cromwell Road Resource Centre in Grimsby but also aims to raise money for equipment for the centre.
The trampoline facility is housed in a new extension at Cromwell Road Resource Centre, which provides services for adults with learning disabilities. The trampoline has been placed within a lowered section of the floor with an over-tracking hoist fitted to make it accessible for everyone.
This means the centre is now able to deliver rebound therapy to anyone with any disability. Using the trampoline not only has therapeutic value, but also helps people to keep fit and is fun. Paediatric physiotherapists are also using the facility to enable disabled children enjoy trampolining.
The Care Trust Plus has trained eight more special needs trampoline coaches so the facility can be used to maximum benefit.
Sue Over, superintendent physiotherapist, adult learning disabilities, said: “We are all extremely pleased with the new trampoline facility and what better way to celebrate the launch than with a sponsored bounce?
“There are a wide range of people taking part in the bounceathon including service users, staff, carers and families plus we would welcome anyone else who has five minutes free to come and have a bounce.
“The equipment which we are raising money for is badly needed and will make a big difference to the people who use the centre. The money raised will go towards a new hoist and an adapted cycle for people in wheelchairs.”
Donation will be taken at any time throughout the bounceathon and sponsor forms are available from the Cromwell Road Resource Centre.
