This week sees the start of a new era in health and social care in North East Lincolnshire as the new North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus goes live.
The Care Trust Plus is the first of its kind anywhere in the country and replaces the former Primary Care Trust. It brings together all the services formerly provided by the PCT and the Adult Social Care services previously supplied by North East Lincolnshire Council. The arrangements have received wide recognition nationally for their innovation and ambition.
Care Trust Plus Chief Executive, Jane Lewington sees the change as an extremely exciting move, “this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the health and social care developed for our local residents. One of the key aims of the new organisation is its engagement with the local community to focus the services towards what is really needed. It will improve health and social care services to everyone especially the most vulnerable.”
The move to Care Trust Plus status is the result of many months of work including both staff and public consultations and much development to provide a seamless transition to Care Trust Plus.
North East Lincolnshire Council, Chief Executive, George Krawiec was keen to stress the benefits of the new organisation, “This is the start of a leading edge development that will be a huge benefit to North East Lincolnshire,” he explained. “We aim to emphasise the importance of the health and wellbeing of residents as well as ensuring the quality of the services provided is enhanced.”
