Healthcare Commission 2006-07

The former North East Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust has been rated in the top 20% of Primary Care Trust’s across the country for its use of resources after receiving a ‘good’ rating in the Healthcare Commission’s annual performance ratings.

The two-part rating also saw the PCT rated as ‘fair’ for it’s quality of services, along with 62% of other PCTs nationally.

The former PCT was succeeded by North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus in September 2007. The score for use of resources meant that the PCT had met all the key requirements that form part of this assessment.  Financial standing was found to be strong, as all financial targets were achieved over at least the last three years.  Financial management, financial reporting, internal control and value for money were all assessed as good.

The score for quality of services covers a range of indicators that affect the care and treatment a patient receives, including; access to services, safety and the way an organisation is run.  This score was based on the results from a number of areas including a rating of ‘almost met’ for meeting core standards and meeting existing national targets.

Commenting on the news, Cathy Kennedy, Deputy Chief Executive of North East Lincolnshire CTP said:

“We are pleased with the results and, in particular, in being assessed as “good” for use of resources. This represents a significant achievement for the organisation during a time of much publicised national attention on NHS finance.

“The rating of fair for quality of service is a reasonable reflection of performance on the targets that were measured. The assessment this year related in part to targets affected by local health inequalities. Improving health and reducing the significant gap between those with the worst health and best health were two of the main drivers for the establishment of the Care Trust Plus.  We remain clear on those priority areas where further development is required by the new organisation over the next twelve months.

“The CTP inherited a strong financial position from the PCT and I would place on record my thanks to our staff and partner organisations for their hard work and dedication which is reflected in this performance”
