Strategy Map: Defining the Service Portfolio for Mental Health Services
The last staff event was held on 17th December 2009 at Tukes Conference Centre. Peter Noble and Kevin Bond introduced the event, and introduced the external support team from Hope Street Centre and Mental Health Strategies who had been appointed following open competition to support the development of the Mental Health Provider Organisation in producing an Integrated Business Plan by March 2010.
For content of the event see the flyer attached; the main content of the session was the implications of the newly published NHS Operating Framework for the work of the emerging Mental Health Provider, presented by William Greenwood from Hope Street Centre. A copy of the presentation is attached
The development of local commissioning intentions for mental health was discussed, and the need for Mental Health Provider Services to develop a prospectus of our work that could be offered to commissioners.
Staff present began the work of defining our services portfolio and the wide range of skills and services that can be offered to commissioners. There was a consensus that there is an opportunity to offer more services and to build on the innovation and excellence evident in existing services. The full range of ideas presented by staff present is summarised in the attached word document
Other issues discussed included the content of future meetings – it was agreed that more information on pensions and related issues would be arranged for meetings in the New Year. In addition more meetings would be arranged looking again at the differences between different organisational delivery models in mental health.
The need to involve as many staff as possible in the development of the service prospectus was highlighted; The Project Steering Group Team will be considering processes for this early January so watch this space for details. We would like all staff teams to be involved in developing a Service Prospectus that fully represents the excellence of our skills and services. In the mean time Seasons Greetings to all and many thanks to all who participated in the staff events this year.
